Applications
The potential application of chalcogenide based materials in at least electronic and optoelectronic devices is vast, but has received little attention until relatively recently due to the cheap and wide availability of silicon based alternatives.
We are rapidly approaching some of the physical limitations of silica as an electronic/optoelectronic material, and as such research into chalcogenide materials is receiving increasing attention around the world.
